15 – 1942: The Pacific Air War

Welcome to this episode of Retro Dogfight! This time, the three of us discuss Denny’s favorite flight sim, and my favorite WWII sim, 1942: The Pacific Air War, which you can get on Steam and GOG. If you’re unaware, this sim covers much of the air war in the Pacific in 1942, and it’s a game you can play for years, thanks to massive career modes, tons of single missions and a dynamic admiral mode. This is such a wonderful sim, even if it is over thirty years old.

Next time, we’re going to talk about Chase’s favorite flight sim:

Which you can also get on Steam and GOG

Thank you so much for listening, and be sure to check your six!

After the Aces series, this was the next greatest flight sim in my life. I spent many hours in this game and I even found an easter egg while in free camera mode back in the day. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1269064579

When Microprose (New) was first founded/announced I was still on Facebook and joined the group very early on, I asked the guys on there about this easter egg and to my surprise they brought Ed Fletcher in to the conversation to tell me what he knew about it. Well, he did not know anything about it 🤣 , so he guessed it was one of his colleagues who had put that in. I have never heard anyone else mention this easter egg in all my years and is the only one I have genuinely found by myself, did you guys know about this one?

Haha omg I had no idea that was there. I’ll pass this onto my colleagues and see if they knew about it. Amazing.
